DISTRICT 51 STARS BUZZED KALAMAZOO PITCHER SHUTS DOWN ANTELOPE VALLEY FOR CHAMPIONSHIP KALAMAZOO 3, A.V. 0.Byline: Lee Lamberts Special to the Daily News KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Sorry. Not this time. The Antelope Valley District 51 All-Stars gave it their best shot but fell short in the Big League World Series, falling 3-0 Saturday to the host team from Michigan, Kalamazoo's District 2 All-Stars. In Michigan pitcher Anna Ollgaard, the A.V. girls ran into a buzz saw. Ollgaard, who fashioned a 23-0 mark as a high school senior last spring, limited the District 51 stars to just two hits. I pitched a better game than I did the other day (when she gave up six walks in a 4-1 win over Canada), But I feel horrible. I've never had that many walks and I'm really disappointed in that.'' Ball was pitching out of trouble most of the game and her only 1-2-3 inning came in the fourth. But even then, Michigan had its leadoff runner on only to be picked off at second in the tail end of a double play that began with a sacrifice bunt. The home team finally solved Ball's offerings - but with some help. Back-to-back singles and a double steal preceded a flyout, but then things caved in for the California girls. Sara Vroegindewey's swinging bunt resulted in one run as Antelope Valley third baseman third baseman n. Baseball The infielder stationed near third base. I was expecting more of a hop, but the ball just rolled. I was thinking in my head to grab the ball and tag her because she was right next to me when I got to the ball. ``But it didn't work.'' Michigan got its third run when cleanup hitter In baseball, the cleanup hitter is the hitter who bats fourth in the lineup. Keilah Williams laid down a bunt in front of the plate that Ball misplayed into the second error and the third run of the inning. That was all Ollgaard needed. From the third through the sixth innings, she retired 11 A.V. batters in a row before Saldana led off the seventh with a solid double to the left-field fence. She never moved from there, however, as Heather Nix flied out, Melanie Aguilar took a called third strike on a change-up and pinch-hitter Tara Jensen grounded out to second to end the game. ``I don't want to take anything away from (Ollgaard) because she did a heck of job today,'' Antelope Valley coach Lester Ball said. ``She tied us up big time.
