Mitchell Chase hosted the event, spending 24 hours a day for five days in the parking lot of the Albertsons supermarket at 38727 Tierra Subida Ave. His morning show was done live in the parking lot with continued break-ins to ask for support of the drive.

``This community is incredible, and I'm very proud to be a part of it,'' said Chase. ``Some of the people that have donated have told me stories of their own hard times and how they needed help. They're back on their feet now and giving back. It's just wonderful to see this support.''

Albertsons store manager Curtis Albright donated a 50-foot truck and the use of the parking lot. The store discounted various items and sold certificates for donations.

``These guys (Albertsons grocery store) have been great,'' said Chase. ``They have done so much to help us out and to get involved in this.''

Residents of communities including Rosamond, Quartz Hill and Littlerock got involved in the event by starting their own food drives and then delivering the food to the Albertsons parking lot.

``These people have hit some pretty hard times, and they know what it's like to go without food,'' said Stroginis. ``We just want to give them a chance to have a meal on Thanksgiving. That's what it's all about.''
