DISNEY DISMISSES LAWSUIT.

Ruffian trainer Frank Whiteley, jockey Jacinto Vasquez Jacinto Vasquez (born 1944, Panama) is a retired Hall of Fame thoroughbred jockey. He rode two Kentucky Derby winners, Foolish Pleasure in 1975 and Genuine Risk in 1980, but may be best known as the regular jockey for the great filly Ruffian.  and a company called Thoroughbred Thoroughbred

Light breed of racing and jumping horse descended from three desert stallions brought to England between 1689 and 1724. Thoroughbreds have a delicate head, slim body, broad chest, and short back. Most are bay, chestnut, brown, black, or gray.
 Legends have filed a lawsuit against Disney, ESPN ESPN Entertainment and Sports Programming Network , ABC ABC

The suit claims Thoroughbred Legends owns the trademark to the name "Ruffian," Whiteley and Vasquez are part-owners of the Ruffian name, and the movie's producers did not obtain the rights to use the name.

Bloomberg News also reports that Whiteley and Vasquez rejected offers to sell their life stories to ESPN for $5,000 apiece.

In a statement, ESPN says: "The claims of the lawsuit are without merit." Ron Semiao, senior vice president of ESPN Original Entertainment, also said: "Bill Nack is one of the most respected and revered sportswriters of all time. We stand by his reputation and the quality of the production."
