DISH Network Satellite Television Brings Local Channels To Lubbock, Texas.


ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- EchoStar Communications Corporation EchoStar Communications Corporation (NASDAQ: DISH) is the parent company of DISH Network and the maintainer of the satellite fleet that provides the signal that DISH Network markets.  (Nasdaq:DISH) announced today that its DISH Network(TM) will offer local TV channels by satellite television to Lubbock, Texas, and the surrounding area. The following local TV channels will be available: ABC ABC

This is the first time local TV channels are available on satellite in the Lubbock area, providing an alternative to local cable TV service. DISH Network, with the lowest all-digital price in America, now offers local channels as part of its Digital Home Advantage. Starting at $29.99 per month, this package offers customers free installation for up to four TVs, with no commitment and no hardware to buy and includes more than 60 popular TV channels such as ESPN ESPN Entertainment and Sports Programming Network , Discovery and CNN Headline News, plus local Lubbock TV channels.

Customers can call DISH Network or a local satellite TV retailer to learn how to get a free multi-satellite dish antenna required to receive Lubbock-area local channels. DISH Network also provides digital video recording technologies, high definition TV and more than 90 international channels to the Lubbock area.

DISH Network offers local channels via satellite to 18 counties in the Lubbock area: Bailey, Borden, Chochran, Crosby, Dawson, Dickens, Floyd, Gaines, Garza, Hale, Hockley, Kent, Lamb, Lubbock, Lynn, Motley, Terry and Yoakum counties.

With the addition of Lubbock, DISH Network offers local channels in 151 markets, including 50 states, Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia District of Columbia, federal district (2000 pop. 572,059, a 5.7% decrease in population since the 1990 census), 69 sq mi (179 sq km), on the east bank of the Potomac River, coextensive with the city of Washington, D.C. (the capital of the United States). .

For customers who do not subscribe to Digital Home Advantage or other qualifying programming, local channels will be available at $5.99 per month.
