DISCOUNT AUTO PARTS ADDS FOURTH GEORGIA STORE

LAKELAND, Fla., Aug. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Discount Auto Parts, Inc. (NYSE: DAP) announced the opening of its fourth mini-depot store in Georgia, a 12,000-square-foot store at 1406 E. Jackson St. in Thomasville.
The public is invited to attend grand opening celebrations, with special sale prices and giveaways, on Saturday, Aug. 21, from 8 a.m. to closing.
Company President Denis Fontaine said that the company's first expansion beyond its Florida borders has gone very well to date. "Sales in each of our Georgia stores are solid, even ahead of projections," said Fontaine. "We have every confidence that the Georgia Do-It- Yourselfer consumer will find our selection of products, pricing and level of service as attractive as our Florida customers have."
The company operates three different store formats depending on the characteristics of the local market. The standard store format typically has about 6,000 square feet of selling space and is designed for rural markets. The slightly larger mini-depot format, averaging 8,000 to 10,000 square feet, is geared to suburban markets. And the warehouse-style format with up to 25,000 square feet is designed for metropolitan markets.
Discount Auto Parts, Inc. is Florida's leading specialty retailer of automotive replacement parts, maintenance items and accessories for the Do-It-Yourselfer ("DIY") consumer, with 178 stores in Florida and Georgia. The company is traded on the New York Stock Exchange and local brokers can provide appropriate investment information.
