DISA Announces Recipients of 2005 Guilbert Award Honoring EDI & E-Business Executives.

FALLS CHURCH, Va. -- The Data Interchange Standards Association (DISA), a not-for-profit organization that supports the development of cross-industry electronic business interchange standards, is pleased to announce the recipients of its 2005 Edward A. Guilbert E-Business Professional Award. This year's recipients are Harry Featherstone, Program Director, LMI Consulting, and Pam Flaten, Business Consultant, Target.

Created in 1991, the Edward A. Guilbert Award honors a select group of professionals who have made significant and enduring contributions to the e-business community. The award is named after Edward A. Guilbert, who served as a logistics officer during the Berlin Airlift of 1948 and later created the first system to exchange data electronically.

Mr. Featherstone's career accomplishments include transforming DoD and federal agency logistics, finance, acquisition, and business requirements into published standards. As a leader in the e-business standards community, he chaired the ASC X12 Strategic Implementation Task Group, an organization responsible for developing and implementing modeled business processes and the next generation of object technology information exchange standards. In addition, he served as the U.S. Head of Delegation representative to UN/CEFACT Steering Group, responsible for advocating U.S. government requirements in international e-business transaction exchange environments, including electronic data interchange (EDI), Extensible Markup Language, and object-oriented technology. Mr. Featherstone also chaired the international technical assessment committee responsible for evaluating and approving international EDI standards.

Ms. Flaten's achievements at Target include her leading role in the development and implementation of e-commerce achieving 100% paperless purchase orders. Her other accomplishments include the adoption of an enterprise transport communication software platform that is compliant with all Internet communication protocols for the Target network. Within the standards setting arena, Ms. Flaten has chaired several task groups, including ASC X12 Finance Working Group, Global Commerce Initiative Technical Infrastructure team, Global Standards Management Process and EPC Global. She is credited as the first person in the VICS Standard Maintenance Committee to receive the VICS SMC & UCC Achievement Award for outstanding contributions to the development of EDI standards in the retail industry.
