DIRECTV Expands Greenville Local Broadcast Channel Package; Additional Local Channels Now Available to Greenville Customers.

DIRECTV Inc., provider of the nation's leading digital television service, announced that beginning today, Dec. 27, 2001, it will offer five additional local broadcast channels via satellite for its DIRECTV(R) customers in the Greenville designated market area (DMA).

Since 1999, DIRECTV has been offering its customers in the Greenville DMA access to a local channel package that includes WSPA (CBS), WYFF (NBC), WLOS (ABC) and WHNS (FOX) for $5.99 per month. DIRECTV is expanding the Greenville local channel package to include WGGS (Independent), UNC (PBS), WBSC (WB), WASV (UPN) and WNTV (PBS), at no additional charge.

Local channels are delivered to DIRECTV customers in Greenville from DIRECTV's primary orbital slot at 101 degrees West Longitude. As a result, DIRECTV customers can receive their local channels, as well as DIRECTV's current lineup of national digital entertainment and information programming through their existing set-top box and 18-inch antenna.

Local Greenville channels from DIRECTV are available in the following counties:

-- South Carolina counties include Abbeville, Anderson, Cherokee, Greenville,
Greenwood, Laurens, Oconee, Pickens, Spartanburg and Union.

-- North Carolina counties include Buncombe, Graham, Haywood, Henderson,
Jackson, McDowell, Macon, Madison, Mitchell, Polk, Rutherford, Swain,
Transylvania and Yancey.

-- Georgia counties include Elbert, Franklin, Hart, Madison and Stephens.
