DIRECTV Adds 15 More Channels to Its Los Angeles Local Broadcast Channel Package; Additional Local Channels Now Available at No Extra Charge.

DIRECTV Inc., provider of the nation's leading digital television service, announced that beginning today, Dec. 27, 2001, it will offer 15 additional local broadcast channels via satellite for its DIRECTV customers in the Los Angeles designated market area (DMA).

Azteca America and Univision's Telefutura are among the six Spanish-language stations also included in the DIRECTV local channel package.

Since 1999, DIRECTV has been offering its customers in the Los Angeles DMA access to a local channel package that includes KABC (ABC), KCBS (CBS), KNBC (NBC), KCAL (Independent), KTLA (WB) and KTTV (FOX) for $5.99 per month. DIRECTV is expanding the Los Angeles local channel package to include KCOP (UPN), KSCI (Independent), KWHY (Telemundo), KCET (PBS), KMEX (Univision), KXLA (Am1), KFTR (Telefutura), KOCE (PBS), KVEA (Telemundo), KAZA (Azteca America), KDOC (Independent), KJLA (Independent), KLCS (PBS), KRCA (Independent) and KADY (Independent), at no additional charge.

Azteca America provides the full array of TV Azteca's popular novelas, entertainment and sports programming, including live soccer games from the professional Mexican League Soccer. KAZA 54 will also include locally produced newscasts in the near future. Local channels are delivered to DIRECTV customers in Los Angeles from DIRECTV's primary orbital slot at 101 degrees West Longitude. As a result, DIRECTV customers can receive their local channels, as well as the current DIRECTV lineup of national digital entertainment and information programming through their existing set-top box and 18-inch antenna.
