DINING DEALS.

Byline: Larry Lipson

Toluca Toluca (tōl`kä), city (1990 pop. 327,865), capital of Mexico state, central Mexico. Located on the central plateau, Toluca (alt. c.8,760 ft/2,670 m) has a year-round cool climate.'s spot o' green

Timmy Nolan's, 10111 Riverside Drive, Toluca Lake, (818) 985-3359. It's a cutesy, narrow, two-story bar with darn good pub-style fare. And its tiny kitchen dishes up a ``foine'' Irish stew, a hearty corned beef and cabbage plate plus well-turned pastas and steaks with most entrees priced from $7.50 to $12. You'll love it, begorra.

Lunchtime pigout

Rosie's BBQ Grillery, 6460 Platt Ave., West Hills, (818) 346-4091. (Also in Northridge.) One of the real tasty trencherman's bargains for serious noon noshers is the overflowing display of meats, pastas and salad goodies on the sandwich and salad bar tables here for a mere $5.75 total. Add soup for $1 more and you won't need dinner. Believe me.

One ton, low price

Studio Wok, 11269 Ventura Blvd., Studio City, (818) 508-3192. You get six good size Chinese dumplings for under $5, satisfying lunches for under $5 and most entree platters under $7. And the food's classily cooked.

Rain forest rah rah

Amazon Bar & Grill, 14649 Ventura Blvd., Sherman Oaks, (818) 986-7502. You get good chicken plates here for $11, entrees as low as $10, each served 'neath a shooting star
Shooting Star
A type of candlestick formation that results when a security's price, at some point during the day, advances well above the opening price but closes lower than the opening price.

Notes:
In order for a candlestick to be considered a shooting star, the formation must be on an upward or bullish trend.
ceiling in a cavelike dining room complete with waterfall and junglelike decor. Almost everything at dinner is under $14 and a percentage of the profits go to rainforest charities.

Dine at the club

Tavern on the Green, 10400 Glenoaks Blvd., Sun Valley, (818) 899-7456. You eat comfortably and well here for amazingly low prices. Would you believe an all-you-can-eat Friday night fish fry for $6.95 that includes cocktail sauce and dessert?
