Stuff yer face

Roscoes, 22746 Roscoe Blvd., Canoga Park, (818) 883-5597. They'll make a full pound burger for you if you order it in advance (because Roscoes bakes its own buns) and stuff you with tasty roast pork or chicken dinners for under $12. Good house produced soups and fresh fruit puddings here, too.

Accent trick

Xcentric Cafe, 16250 Ventura Blvd., Encino, 818-783-7110. Tiny, engaging eatery with Cuban, Asian, Greek, Mexican and Italian accented fare at low prices (nothing over $8) plus generous portioning. Not eccentric at all.

Your pet wok

City Wok, 17132 Ventura Blvd., Encino, (818) 783-1299.(Also in North Hollywood and Palm Springs area.) Well-executed, quick and clean, Chinese-style cooking with full size entree platters under $10 and half size ones under $5.

Pasadena hangout

Mi Piace, 25 Colorado Blvd., Pasadena, (818) 795-3131. (Newly opened in Burbank.) Constantly packed, this inexpensive Italian, trattoria-style eatery - lots of offerings under $10 - perpetuates its pasta power over parsimonious par·si·mo·ni·ous
