DINING BEAT WHEN OSCAR VISITS L.A.

Oscar is in town Sunday night Sunday Night, later named Michelob Presents Night Music, was an NBC late-night television show which aired for two seasons between 1988 and 1990 as a showcase for jazz and eclectic musical artists. , which means viewing parties, post-ceremony parties, partygoers - famous and otherwise - dressed to the nines, making the rounds of A-list clubs and restaurants.

The big viewing bash is again the ``Night of 100 Stars'' black-tie event in the Crystal Ballroom Crystal Ballroom is a name associated with numerous buildings and ballrooms worldwide, including:

 of the Beverly Hills Hotel The Beverly Hills Hotel is a hotel in Beverly Hills, CA, at 9641 Sunset Boulevard. It was opened on May 12, 1912 and started by Margaret J. Anderson and her son, Stanley S. Anderson, who had been managing the Hollywood Hotel. . Produced by agent Norby Walters and sponsored by Nygard International, it's a fund-raiser for Martin Scorsese's Film Foundation.

Attendees include many former Oscar winners, among them Shirley Jones, Martin Landau, Ernest Borgnine and Shelley Winters. The room is usually crammed with movie, television and music celebrities past and present. They'll be munching chef Katsuo ``Suki'' Sugiura's salad of romaine hearts with tropical fruits and berries; his entree of oolong oo·long

TOGAS AND VIDEOS: At the Sportsmen's Lodge in Studio City, ``Gladiator'' buffs will gather for an unofficial Oscar party at 3 p.m. Sunday.

MORE OSCAR MANIA: Through Saturday night, the Polo Lounge of the Beverly Hills Hotel (call 310-276-2251 for reservations) is serving a number of Oscar-inspired dishes and drinks representing each best picture nominee.
