DINING BEAT : THE ULTIMATE SEASON OPENER.

Easter Sunday has become the yearly kickoff date for the dining-out season, and with Passover just days before, it's going to be a busy weekend.

Hopefully, El Nino will cooperate and not rain on Easter parades and egg hunts at local restaurants.

For last-minute Easter brunch fanciers, Bistro Garden, 12950 Ventura Blvd., Studio City, offers a sit-down meal for $32 that includes a choice of five starters, one of five main dishes, a choice of four desserts and coffee. Reservations: (818) 501-0202.

The New Otani The New Otani is a chain of hotels, with headquarters in Tokyo, Japan. The main hotel in Tokyo opened in 1964, to coincide with the Tokyo Olympics of that year, and is known for the revolving restaurant atop the hotel, along with the New Otani Art Museum located on its sixth floor.  Hotel, 120 S. Music and an egg hunt highlight the happenings at a Garden Pavilion buffet brunch ($20) at the Manor Hotel, 5930 Franklin Ave., Hollywood. Reservations: (213) 960-3100.

And the local Pinot restaurants - Pinot Bistro, (818) 990-0500; Pinot at the Chronicle, (626) 792-1179; Pinot Hollywood, (213) 461-8800; and Cafe Pinot, (213) 239-6500, are serving a three-course brunch ($26-$28).

The Valley's Pinot Bistro, 12969 Ventura Blvd., Studio City, presents a choice of six appetizers, seven entrees and four desserts for its $28 sit-down brunch (half price for children under 11).

They're calling it a ``Bunny Hop'' Sunday at Moonlight, 13730 Ventura Blvd., Sherman Oaks, (starts at 4 p.m.) featuring a $19.95 prime rib or baked Virginia ham meal (children under 12 receive free Easter eggs and pay half price). There's live entertainment here by the Moonlight Swingers, also dancing and the regular menu.
