Clearwater goes seafood

The former Clearwater Cafe in Pasadena has been transformed into Clearwater Seafood by its parent company, University Restaurant Group.

The original concept had emphasized health and dietary approaches to its fare, perhaps a little too strongly to appeal to mainstream diners.

Consequently, Clearwater, in a gradual attempt to broaden its base, perhaps muddied up things somewhat, leading to confusion.

Now reopened as Clearwater Seafood, the 168 W. Colorado Blvd. restaurant at the west end of Old Town, joins its popular Southern California siblings, Water Grill, Ocean Avenue Seafood, King's Pine Avenue Fish House and King Crab Lounge, as a mainstream fresh fish and seafood restaurant.
