Boasting that it has sold 15 million fish tacos since its inception in 1983, Rubio's, with 26 California locations, has finally sneaked into the San Fernando Valley San Fernando Valley

Going head to head against Baja Fresh Baja Fresh is a restaurant chain of Fresh Mex restaurants founded in Newbury Park, California, United States in 1990 by Jim and Linda Magglos. Categorized as a "fast-casual" restaurant, the quality and preparation time of its food is between that of a fast-food restaurant and a , La Salsa, Poquito Mas, Sharky's and other local fresh-Mex outlets, Rubio's Valley restaurant made a quiet debut in the Encino Town Center at 17200 Ventura Blvd.

Founder Ralph Rubio claims the original fish taco that inspired his recipe was purchased from a street vendor named Carlos in San Felipe San Felipe (săn fəlē`pā), pueblo (1990 pop. 1,557), Sandoval co., N central N.Mex., on the Rio Grande; founded early 18th cent. The inhabitants are Pueblo of the Keresan linguistic family. Ceremonial dances are held there in spring and winter. , Mexico. Rubio developed the recipe with his brother, Robert.

But Rubio's fish tacos, priced at $1.64, $1.99 and $2.59 represent only a small part of Rubio's menu. Tostadas, burritos (including fish and shrimp), salads, quesadillas, nachos and combinations round out the fare, which tops out at $5.79 for its grilled chicken burrito and mahi fish taco combinations plates with rice and beans Rice and beans, "arroz y habas" or "arroz con habichuelas" "arroz con frijoles" or similar in Spanish, "arroz e feijão" or "feijão com arroz", in Brazilian Portuguese, "du riz a pois/haricots" in French, and "diri ak pwa .

The "Choco Taco", as made by Good Humor, is marketed as the "The Original Ice Cream Taco".
