DINING / SNEAK PEEK : PLANS FOR BISTRO NOT SAVORED BY ALL.


The announcement that a new Bistro restaurant will open on the former Bistro site in Beverly Hills Beverly Hills, city (1990 pop. 31,971), Los Angeles co., S Calif., completely surrounded by the city of Los Angeles; inc. 1914. The largely residential city is home to many motion-picture and television personalities.  has annoyed a few people.

First, the forthcoming Bistro hired away the chef at L'Orangerie as well as its maitre d' and sous chef, causing much consternation - and legal discussion - with L'Orangerie's attorneys.

And now Christopher Niklas, owner of the remaining Bistro Garden in Studio City and a former co-owner of the original Bistro and Bistro Garden in Beverly Hills, claims he has been besieged be·siege

 by calls and questions concerning the ``reopening'' of the shuttered landmark dinery.

Niklas insists that the new Bistro ``has nothing whatsoever to do with the original Bistro in Beverly Hills.'' He claims that investor packets by the new owners included a copy of a Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  magazine article about his father, Kurt Niklas, the founder of the original Bistro.

An unsigned statement on Bistro Garden at Coldwater stationary mailed to local media contacts denounced this as ``a false impression ... promising to bring back the original Bistro splendor.''

The Bistro Garden's company name is still called Bistro Inc. And it is currently searching for a Westside location, the statement said.

When it finds one, it promises, ``it will be the real thing.'' Meanwhile, the upcoming, upstart Bistro promises to open at 246 N. Canon Drive in early October.

New in the Valley: The new barbecue restaurant County Line, in the building at 18588 Ventura Blvd., Tarzana, previously occupied by Truly Yours, earlier this week was promising it would begin serving to the public at 4 p.m. Saturday.

And Cafe N'Awlins, 122 San Fernando Road San Fernando Road is a major street in the city and county of Los Angeles. It starts off in Castaic as The Old Road, passing through Santa Clarita and the Newhall Pass, where upon its intersection with Sierra Highway near the junction of the Golden State (I-5) and the , Burbank, the Cajun-Creole newcomer that previously announced it would open on July 19, is now saying it will definitely open today.
