DIGS Inc. Accelerates Final Pre-Market Testing Of Its Unique Internet Video Player Application, IVideoNow; Company Sees Host Of Potential Video Internet And Intranet Uses.

Business Editors

ENCINO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 6, 2000

DIGS Inc.(OTCBB OTCBB

See OTC Bulletin Board (OTCBB).
:DIGS), a supplier of multimedia and Internet communications solutions for corporations, today announced the successful completion of phase one beta testing (programming) beta testing - Testing a pre-release (potentially unreliable) version of a piece of software by making it available to selected users. This term derives from early 1960s terminology for product cycle checkpoints, first used at IBM but later standard throughout the  of its unique IVideoNow(TM) multi-window video playback system.

The four-week test optimized the application for use with Microsoft's Internet Explorer Microsoft's Web browser, which comes with Windows starting with Windows 98. Commonly called "IE," versions for Mac and Unix are also available. Internet Explorer is the most widely used Web browser on the market. It has also been the browser engine in AOL's Internet access software. (TM) browser, and the company expects to begin beta testing IVideoNow for Netscape(TM) users on Monday, January 10.

Currently, IVideoNow supports both Microsoft's Media Player 2000(TM) and Apple's Quick Time(TM) on Internet Explorer. During the beta test A test of new or revised hardware or software that is performed by users at their facilities under normal operating conditions. Beta testing follows alpha testing. Vendors of packaged software often offer their customers the opportunity of beta testing new releases or versions, and the , the company added an auto-detect feature to automatically select the viewer's appropriate streaming video A one-way video transmission over a data network. It is widely used on the Web as well as company networks to play video clips and video broadcasts. Computers in home networks stream video to digital media hubs connected to a home theater.  program and automate video player operation. In line with the company's objective of supporting all current streaming video products, Real Video(TM) will be added following phase two Netscape beta testing.

"The successful completion of phase one beta testing is a huge step toward our goal of having the first multi-window video screening device on the market," said Peter Dunn

, DIGS' president and chief executive officer. "What we learned will greatly expedite the addition of Netscape so that IVideoNow will run on one hundred percent of the browsers worldwide."

In contrast to the typical streaming video application which delivers pre-set video to the user, the new DIGS' product gives viewers great flexibility as to what they view and at what quality. They can instantly screen up to thirty-six videos in the player's preview windows and then, using DIGS unique four-star quality system, select the quality level they wish for full player screen viewing. The IVideoNow clock feature detects the speed of the user's connection, computes the download time needed for each quality level based on the length of the video and displays the information to the user.

The company seeks to provide corporations in a host of industries with a video player that is "highly reliable, fun and easy to use, as well as one that can be customized for their particular requirements," Dunn commented, adding that IVideoNow will be made available to corporations for a fixed monthly fee or on a per usage basis.

Film and television companies may use the player to allow the consumer to screen upcoming attractions. Retail companies, such as DIGS' client, Victoria Secret, are considering IVideoNow as a video catalog to present their offerings in a dynamic and compelling way. In the music industry, video has become key to marketing, making the DIGS' player a natural adjunct. "The same may be said for the travel industry," said Dunn, "where hotel chains, cruise lines

"The entire area of intra-corporate uses for employee training and communications is also very exciting. We are only beginning to scratch the surface of potential uses, particularly with the anticipated rapid growth of video on the Internet."
