DIGITAL NAMES THOMAS C. SIEKMAN VICE PRESIDENT, GENERAL COUNSEL

Corporation (NYSE:DEC) today announced the appointment of Thomas C.
Siekman, 51, as vice president, general counsel. In this position, Siekman will be responsible for the Law Department, the Corporate Licensing Office, Government Relations and the International Trade Group. He replaces Martin R. Hoffmann, who is resigning to pursue certain opportunities in law, business and academia.
Commenting on the announcements, Robert B. Siekman joined Digital in 1973 as corporate patent counsel and was elected assistant secretary of the corporation shortly thereafter. Since that time, he has held a succession of senior management positions within the Law department, including assistant general counsel, Corporate Law Section; assistant general counsel, U.S. Law Section; and most recently, deputy general counsel. He was appointed vice president in 1992. Prior to joining Digital, Siekman was a patent attorney for Bethlehem Steel in Bethlehem, Penn., and Mohawk Data Sciences in Stoneham, Mass.; and was in private practice with the Boston law firm of Chittick, Thompson and Pfund. Siekman holds a bachelor of science degree in Engineering from Merrimack College and a juris doctor degree from Villanova School of Law. He has also attended the Northeastern Management Development Program, the European Institute of Business Administration Advanced Management Program and the Harvard Law School Program of Instruction for Lawyers. Siekman is a member of the American Bar Association; the American Society of Corporate Secretaries; the International Bar Association; and the American Corporate Counsel Association, for which he is a director of its Northeast Chapter. He also serves on the Law Council of the Manufacturer's Alliance for Productivity and Innovation and the Legal Quality Council of the Conference Board.
