DIGITAL F/X SHIPS TITLEMAN; POSTSCRIPT TITLE GENERATOR
 SIMPLIFIES VIDEO POST-PRODUCTION
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Nov. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Digital F/X Inc., the award-winning producer of digital video and audio solutions, today announced it is shipping TitleMan, the PostScript title generator which brings the power of 10,000 PostScript fonts to video production.
"TitleMan is the first video output solution to bridge the gap between Macintosh graphics and the on-line edit suite," said Jason Danielson, director of marketing for the Broadcast Division. "By combining video expertise with computer technology, Digital F/X now enables clients to use the same fonts in all their communications, from print to video."
TitleMan is the only title generator that includes the Adobe PostScript interpreter, customized by Digital F/X for converting desktop publishing type fonts and graphics into a clean, high-quality video signal. With TitleMan, typography and graphics can be imported and rendered, then fed directly into the switcher without a stat camera or clean-up in the graphics room. Broadcast customers such as HBO and the Family Channel, and post houses like Telezign and Post Perfect in New York and Skyview Film Video in Chicago are using TitleMan to save time in production and to more creatively enhance the production values of the overall project.
"We use just about every font in the world, and Digital F/X's PostScript rendering and anti-aliasing is the best we've seen," said Ralph Fumante, vice president for HBO Studio Productions. "The whole process is simplified: PostScript files in, RGB out."
The TitleMan system consists of a frame buffer which plugs into a NuBus slot in a Macintosh for display and frame grabs; integrated software for creating titles and rendering and anti-aliased PostScript titles and graphics; and an external rack-mountable chassis that takes black-burst reference in, and puts RGB, linear key and sync out. It is easily H-phased (or timed) into downstream video equipment and multiple engineering setups can be saved on disk. TitleMan uses standard BNCs to connect with a transcoder for YUV output; to an encoder for composite output; or directly to a component switcher.
TitleMan is priced at $7,995 for NTSC (525/60) format, or $9,995 for PAL (625/50) format. The system requires a Macintosh II computer with a NuBus slot, minimum of 16 MB RAM, and System 7.
Based in Mountain View, Digital F/X Inc. manufactures and markets digital video and audio post-production systems for the professional and emerging desktop markets. Integrating computer technology with proprietary video hardware and software, Digital F/X is an award-winning technological leader in providing video and audio solutions.
