DIGITAL EQUIPMENT NAMES ANTHONY CRAIG VP FOR WORLDWIDE SALES OPERATIONS

 MAYNARD, Mass., Dec. 2, /PRNewswire/ -- Digital Equipment Corporation (NYSE: DEC) today named veteran computer industry executive Anthony L. Craig to the position of vice president, Worldwide Sales Operations, reporting to Edward L. Lucente, vice president of Worldwide Sales and Marketing.
 In this position, Craig, 48, will be responsible for worldwide distribution channels and global account operations, as well as for key management areas related to sales training and sales compensation and recognition programs.
 "Tony has an exceptional record of achievement in successfully managing complex business issues and demonstrating leadership in critical organization and market development situations," said Lucente. "He will play a pivotal role as Digital continues its work of accelerating new business opportunities in channels-based markets and creating a world-class professional sales organization."
 The appointment is effective immediately.
 Craig was most recently senior vice president, Intercontinental Operations, with Oracle Systems Corporation. Prior to that, he was president/CEO and board member of C3 Inc., where he led a successful turnaround.
 Previously, for 17 years Craig held a variety of management and technical positions with IBM, and then served five years with the General Electric Corporation as a corporate vice president and president/CEO of GE Information Services. Craig also served as president/CEO and board member of Prime Computer in 1988-1989.
 A native of Ireland, Craig holds a BS in Mathematics and Physics from Dalhousie University, Halifax, Canada. He currently serves on the boards of Iomega Corporation and Bell Industries.
