DIGITAL EQUIPMENT CORP. AND ODETICS

 ANAHEIM, Calif., June 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Odetics (AMEX: OA, OB) announced today that it has entered a strategic partnership with Digital Equipment Corp. (NYSE: DEC) to develop a family of automated tape library products based upon Digital's DLT technology. The development and resulting production will be done by Odetics' wholly owned subsidiary, ATL Products Inc.
 "The industry is clearly moving toward tape automation, and we are working with Digital to meet both the current and future needs of the midrange computer market," explained Dr. Kevin Daly, president of ATL Products. According to Daly, ATL Products was selected for the partnership because of its ability to adapt automation systems rapidly to meet market demand. "Our corporate background in tape automation includes automated tape libraries for both the computer mass storage marketplace and television broadcast industry," explained Daly. "We are uniquely positioned to respond quickly to emerging technologies."
