DIGITAL BIOMETRICS ANNOUNCES PORTABLE FINGERPRINT AND MUGSHOT UNIT
MINNETONKA, Minn., Feb. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Digital Biometrics, Inc. (NASDAQ: DBII), a Minnetonka-based manufacturer of inkless electronic fingerprint systems, today announced a major new law enforcement identification system, the FC-7(TM) portable SQUad car IDentification, or SQUID(TM), system.
The SQUID system is a lightweight, portable, hand-held unit designed for use in the patrol car. The SQUID system captures on-the-spot fingerprints and mugshots and can be used to record live audio and video of suspects. Fingerprints and mugshots can be relayed from the patrol car to a communications center where fingerprint identification can take place. This will permit patrol officers to obtain positive IDs without transporting suspects to the police station.
The SQUID system has been designed and manufactured to specifications of the FBI's National Crime Information Center (NCIC) in connection with its well publicized NCIC 2000 project.
Jack A. Klingert, president and chief executive officer of Digital Biometrics, said, "the SQUID system brings the company's live-scan inkless fingerprint capture technology to the forefront in the fight against crime."
Added Klingert, "the company has expended significant research and development and marketing resources, since the beginning of our fiscal year, on the development of new and improved products and to complete testing and delivery of SQUID systems. We are pleased to support the technical advancement of equipment to aid law enforcement personnel."
