DIGITAL ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENT OF LUCIA LUCE QUINN TO VICE PRESIDENT, CORPORATE STRATEGY AND ALLIANCES

 MAYNARD, Mass., Nov. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Digital Equipment Corporation (NYSE: DEC) today announced the appointment of Lucia Luce Quinn to vice president, Corporate Strategy and Alliances.
 In this role, Quinn, 40, is responsible for driving Digital's strategic planning process, formulating strategic choices and recommendations for technology, alliances, and markets, and participating in strategic decision making for the corporation. Quinn will report to Digital president and chief executive officer Robert B. Palmer.
 "As a key member of the senior management team, Lucia will assure that our strategic planning process benefits from the input and commitment of a very broad range of employees, customers, partners and consultants," Palmer said.
 Quinn has been managing the Corporate Strategy and Alliances Group since December, 1992, with a staff in the U.S. and Europe. In this capacity, she created a network of planning, business development and strategic alliance professionals throughout the corporation to integrate strategic planning into the management work of Digital's business units, functions and areas.
 Quinn joined Digital in 1989 from Harbor Research Corporation, where she was a vice president and senior partner. Prior to this, she was in strategic planning for the advanced technology business unit of Westinghouse Electric Corporation. During the 1976 Presidential Campaign, she served as director of research and assistant director of the Presidential Campaign Task Force for the Republican National Committee.
 Quinn earned her bachelor of arts degree in management from Simmons College, and is listed in the 1993/94 "Who's Who Registry of Global Business Leaders."
