DIGICON COMPLETES ACQUISITION OF SEISMIC VESSEL

HOUSTON, Jan. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Digicon Inc. (AMEX: DGC) announced today that it has completed the previously announced purchase of a 300 foot seismic research ship, the M/V Mobil Search, from Mobil Tankships (U.S.A.) Inc.
As part of the transaction, the vessel was sold to Polar Prince A.S., a member of the G.C. Rieber Group of Bergen, Norway, and will be chartered to Digicon for a period of up to 13 years. The G.C. Rieber Group owns and operates six other geophysical research and scientific ships.
The ship is currently being upgraded in England with the installation of Digicon's latest seismic streamer technology and new navigation systems. When the upgrade is completed in March 1993, the vessel, which will be renamed the Polar Search, will tow up to four seismic streamer cables and up to three energy source arrays making it one of the most versatile geophysical vessels in the world.
Digicon provides seismic data acquisition and processing services on a worldwide basis to the petroleum industry. The company operates nine seismic survey ships, four land/transition zone seismic crews and 12 data processing centers around the world. Digicon is a Houston-based company whose common stock is listed on the American Stock Exchange under the symbol "DGC."
