DIE CAST & FORGE CORPORATION AGREES

NEW YORK, Oct. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) today announced that it has settled a complaint issued to Die Cast & Forge Corporation of New Rochelle, N.Y. for violations of the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA). The company has agreed to pay a $58,000 penalty for the violations.
According to the complaint, issued in June, 1993, Die Cast & Forge Corporation failed to submit Toxic Chemical Release Inventory Forms for lead for reporting years 1987, 1988 and 1989. In addition, the company failed to submit Toxic Chemical Release Inventory Forms for trichloroethane for reporting years 1988 and 1989.
Under EPCRA section 313, owners and operators of facilities which manufacture, import, process or otherwise use listed toxic chemicals above toxic chemical thresholds must submit annually, no later than July 1 of the following year, Toxic Chemical Release Inventory forms.
"Inventory forms are important because they give us and the community an instant snap-shot of what chemicals are present at a given facility," said William J. Muszynski, Acting EPA Region 2 Administrator. "Failure to submit these inventory forms hinders our goal of having an informed community and protecting human health and the environment."
