), one of Jordan's renowned and distinguished banks. The company's industry-leading Kofax Ascent Capture platform and VirtualReScan(R) (VRS (Video Relay Service) A communications service for the hearing or speech impaired. A VRS is the video counterpart of a TTY relay service, in which the user types on a terminal, and the relay operator speaks the messages to the recipient (see TDD/TTY). ) technology was implemented at JKB to streamline the processing of 20,000 documents the bank receives daily from its 45-branch network of banking centres all over Jordan.

JKB needed an information capture solution that would reduce potential document indexing errors, and help manage the large volume of documents it receives from around its distributed network of banking centres. In addition to assigning indexing values to customer accounts documents, JKB wanted to create a system that would assure that any changes made to a customer 's account, such as address or payment schedule modifications, could be implemented, then routed to the appropriate staff for processing.

Jordan-based solution provider, 01 Systems worked with JKB to help streamline the company's information capture needs by prescribing a solution that would reduce processing delays, enhance the quality of information that was being entered into the system and improve JBK's ability to deal with large images for the purpose of archiving content. The recommended Kofax Ascent Capture(R) system automatically captures the information on documents and forms, and delivers reliable, retrievable information into business applications and databases.

"The Ascent Capture platform enabled us to maintain complete control over our document processing Processing text documents, which includes indexing methods for text retrieval based on content. "We expect that the new system will pay for itself and offer a significant return in our investment."

In addition, Kofax's VRS technology was employed to improve both image quality and optical character recognition optical character recognition (OCR), method for the machine-reading of typeset, typed, and, in some cases, hand-printed letters, numbers, and symbols using optical sensing and a computer.  (OCR OCR

As the result of the implementation, JKB has been able to reduce the number of paper documents being sent between its branch locations and internal departments. Due to this reduction in manual document sorting, JKB has reassigned staff resources to other areas within the organisation.
