DICKENS' DEBT TO THE CITY.MERSEY historian Frank Carlyle is holding a talk about famous authors who have been inspired by the city. Shakespeare, the Bronte Sisters Noun 1. Bronte sisters - a 19th century family of three sisters who all wrote novels , Charles Dickens, William Blake and Samuel Coleridge all owe a debt to Liverpool for influencing their works. Now Mr Carlyle is hosting a special evening to tell people why. His stories include how Charlotte and Emily Bronte Noun 1. Emily Bronte - English novelist; one of three Bronte sisters (1818-1848) Currer Bell, Emily Jane Bronte, Bronte visited the city many times and were so fascinated by street urchins, at the beginning of Wuthering Heights, Heathcliff is found homeless in Liverpool. The talk will be held at St George's Hall at 7pm tomorrow. Tickets cost pounds 4.95 and are available from the hall's gift centre.. |
