DIANE C. HARRIS NAMED TO DURIRON'S BOARD OF DIRECTORS

 DAYTON, Ohio, Oct. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- The Duriron Company, Inc. (NASDAQ: DURI) announced today that Diane C. Harris, vice president of corporate development for Bausch & Lomb, has been elected to a newly created seat on the company's board of directors. John S. Haddick, Duriron's chairman of the board, said, "We are excited about the strategic planning skills and experience Mrs. Harris brings to our Board. A pioneer in technology alliances, she has been a catalyst for change at Bausch & Lomb, a $2 billion worldwide growth company. Additionally, we expect that Mrs. Harris's technical background combined with twenty-five years of broad and varied business experience will make her a valuable contributor in all Board deliberations."
 Harris graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a B.A. degree in chemistry from Catholic University in 1964. After earning a M.S. degree in chemistry from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1967, she joined Bausch & Lomb as a research chemist. In subsequent assignments, Harris held a number of managerial positions including general manager of the analytical products operations. Among her initial duties as vice president, planning and development, Soflens Product Group, a position she held from 1977 through 1980, was leading Bausch & Lomb's successful entry into the contact lens solutions business.
 In 1981, Harris was elected vice president, corporate development. During her tenure, she has been involved in over 160 acquisition/ divestiture transactions that have transformed Bausch & Lomb into a global leader in optics and health care products. In recognition of her professional accomplishments, Harris has been named by Business Week magazine in 1992 and 1987 as one of the 50 top women executives in corporate America.
 When Harris assumes her duties on Dec. 1, 1993, she will increase Duriron's board of directors to 13 members.
