DIANA HAIR SALE HALTED

A lock of hair from the late DIANA, PRINCESS OF WALES has been removed from an Internet auction site for breaching a ban on the sale of body parts.

The clipping was due to be sold for $600 (GBP300) on New Zealand-based website TradeMe, but the auction was stopped after complaints from other traders.

The late British royal originally gave the piece of hair to a friend, taping it into a poetry book with the message, "My lock. Diana. 1995". The friend later sold it on to an American collector.

But the website eventually agreed not to go through with the sale, and spokesman Mike O'Donnell said the decision was "really simple - we don't do body parts!"

Diana, Princess of Wales was killed in a tragic car crash in Paris, France, on 31 August 1997.
