to find the venue and team were indeed going to be the tough ask as expected.

The good scoring from the previous night at Somerset was sadly, in the main, absent as the fast-gating Rockets left too much work for the chasing Diamonds to do on a typically slick track which left Newcastle hunting in vain for grip to pass on.

Following Bach extracting himself from under the fence, he declared himself fit for action with the re-run producing the third home 5-1 on the trot, moving the score on to 19-5. Finally a Diamond took the chequered flag with Kenni Larsen battling off the challenges of Chris Neath throughout heat five.

The 5-1s returned however in the sixth race, including heat seven where Newcastle captain Jason King was nominated as a tactical ride for double points, but in the re-run, he could not get around either Luke Bowen or Sundstrom despite a fine effort and settled for a single as Rye House pushed onwards at 32-10, before Trent Leverington and Craig Branney made an unexpected fast gate in Heat Eight to initially lead in 1-5 formation, but Andrew Silver squeezed between the Diamonds' pair to lead and share the heat instead.
