DIAMOND, ACTIVIST WHO WON BATTLE OVER VENDING RULES.

Mort Diamond, a longtime Canoga Park resident and a candidate for Los Angeles City Council The Los Angeles City Council is the governing body of the City of Los Angeles, California, United States. , died Thursday. He was 68.

The retired Van Nuys restaurant owner restaurant owner ndueƱo/a or propietario/a de un restaurante  and hot-dog vendor won a battle against local government in the late 1980s when he successfully forced changes in county regulations governing vending carts.

Diamond ran unsuccessfully in 1989, 1993 and 1997 for the 3rd District seat on the City Council representing the west San Fernando Valley San Fernando Valley

Diamond was born Jan. 24, 1932, in Newark, New Jersey. He graduated from Los Angeles Mission College Los Angeles Mission College is a two-year community college located in Sylmar, California neighborhood of Los Angeles in the San Fernando Valley, United States. It is part of the Los Angeles Community College District.  in paralegal studies. He had a business administration degree from Chaffey College History

The school was first founded in Ontario in 1883, when city founders and brothers George and William Chaffey donated land and established an endowment for a private college.

His survivors include his wife.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Mount Sinai Memorial Park, 5950 Forest Lawn Drive, Los Angeles.
