) has selected the company as a prime contractor under the department's Enterprise Acquisition Gateway for Leading Edge Solutions (EAGLE).

DHS will use EAGLE - part of the department's strategy for IT consolidation - to centralize IT procurement. EAGLE is an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ IDIQ Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (contracting/procurement) ) contract vehicle with a base period of five years and two, one-year options, for a total of up to seven years. Under the terms of the contract, each of the awarded primes and their respective teams will be allowed to compete for task orders.

DHS selected Unisys as a prime contractor for two of EAGLE's five functional categories:

--Category One - Infrastructure engineering design, development, implementation and integration. Under tasks in this category, Unisys would design and deploy IT infrastructure, much like it has been doing for the Transportation Security Administration (TSA TSA

--Category Two - Operations and maintenance. Under tasks in this category, Unisys would provide solutions, processes and procedures necessary to sustain systems once they're deployed. Examples include datacenters, help desk, field support, network operations center See NOC.

Network Operations Center - (NOC) A location from which the operation of a network or internet is monitored. Additionally, this center usually serves as a clearinghouse for connectivity problems and efforts to resolve those problems.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA; an agency within the US Department of Homeland Security) has implemented Security Operations Centers (referred to as SOC)
 (SOC), e-mail, voice and video services.
