DHL Wins Shipping Contract For U.S. Air Express Services with Johnson Controls; Leader in Automotive Systems and Facility Management Chooses DHL to Enhance U.S. Operations.

PLANTATION, Fla. -- DHL, the world's leading express delivery and logistics company, today announced it has been selected by Johnson Controls, Inc. (NYSE:JCI), a $27 billion global market leader in automotive systems and facility management and control, as its U.S. express service provider. The three-year, multi-million dollar agreement with Johnson Controls comes on the heels of a recent DHL announcement of enhanced air network and service offerings. Johnson Controls will consolidate all of its domestic air shipping to DHL as its U.S. domestic service provider, as well as rely on DHL for international shipping solutions.

All Johnson Controls business units (interior experience, building efficiency and power solutions), will use DHL's Next Day Air products to transport time-sensitive customer material such as emergency parts for vehicles and control equipment, including heating and cooling systems and parts to and from vendors and company facilities throughout the U.S. Johnson Controls will also use DHL for urgent inter-office material, including the full company payroll distribution.

Johnson Controls, which had used a combination of carriers for several years, noted that a $1.2 Billion DHL network infrastructure investment and recent enhancements to DHL next day air products have been providing measurable returns, including faster transit times and enhanced overall operational flexibility. In April, DHL announced significant enhancements to its suite of domestic Next Day Air products though a major expansion of service coverage across the U.S., and a money back guarantee for DHL Next Day 10:30 AM and DHL Saturday Delivery services.

Johnson Controls will also leverage DHL's global expertise in international shipping to develop integrated regional solutions, speed transit times, and minimize customs clearance delays. DHL is currently working with Johnson Controls to develop cross-border, break-bulk solutions from Mexico to the U.S. and from the U.S. to Canada for the transport of automotive parts and heating and cooling systems.

Both companies are also evaluating joint procurement and reseller alliances.

Already in place are tailored solutions for Johnson Controls, such as customized customer service support and late pickup service at key Johnson Controls distribution facilities.
