DHL Partners with Neighborhood Postal Centers to Sponsor Nationwide Thanksgiving Food Drive.

, the world's leading logistics and express delivery company, today announced that in partnership with Neighborhood Postal Centers, a national network of independent shipping centers, it will sponsor a nationwide Thanksgiving food drive to collect canned goods, non-perishable food items, and cash donations to benefit America's Second Harvest -- The Nation's Food Bank Network, the largest hunger-relief organization in the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. From November 1 through November 18, approximately 1,000 Neighborhood Postal Center stores across the U.S. will serve as collection points for donations of food items to be delivered to the needy for Thanksgiving. During the week of November 21, DHL will leverage its extensive U.S. transportation network to deliver the donated goods to over two-hundred food banks in the America's Second Harvest Network. Local donations will be delivered to local food banks, ensuring that local community food banks are recipients of the generosity of their neighbors. America's Second Harvest Member food banks will then coordinate the distribution of the donated food to over 50,000 local soup kitchens, shelters and other locations in time for preparation of Thanksgiving dinner The centerpiece of contemporary Thanksgiving in the United States is a large meal, starring a large roasted turkey. Donations of canned goods and non-perishable food items including Thanksgiving dinner ingredients (e.g., canned vegetables, stuffing, gravy) and other high protein sources (e.g., peanut butter, tuna fish, beans) can be dropped off at local Neighborhood Postal Centers across the country.
