Throughout the month of September, DHL will build on its business continuity and emergency preparedness plans with initiatives that focus specifically on the preparedness of DHL employees and their families before, during, and after an emergency.

 efforts are designed to support DHL employees and operations located in hurricane affected areas, enabling DHL to quickly implement contingency plans in any areas impacted by the path of a storm.

DHL's planned activities for National Preparedness Month 2006 include employee training sessions around the country focused on the importance of family emergency preparedness in areas vulnerable to hurricanes; DHL Emergency Captain volunteer training with local fire and safety officials; and distribution of emergency preparedness communications for employees and their families. DHL has also partnered with South Florida English and Spanish-language media partners to encourage hurricane preparedness through a public awareness campaign; and DHL Americas corporate employee volunteers have also helped prepare emergency supply kits to be distributed among needy South Florida families in preparation for a potential hurricane event.
