DHL Breaks Ground on New Service Center Facility in Salt Lake City; $4.3 Million Investment at Salt Lake City International Airport to Enable Growth, Enhance Services for DHL Customers.

. The $4.3 Million Investment includes construction of a 62,000-sq.-ft facility at the airport to serve Salt Lake City and surrounding areas for pickup, delivery and sorting operations.

DHL currently has a "pass-through" ramp operation at the airport, where packages are off-loaded from its dedicated aircraft and shuttled to its existing service center in West Valley City, Utah West Valley City is a city in Salt Lake County in the state of Utah. The new state-of-the-art facility will handle a wide variety of shipments - including domestic and international parcels as well as palletized and container freight - and initially employ 142 DHL employees and associates when fully operational on August 1, 2006.

Additional key facts about today's announcement include:

--Construction of the Salt Lake City facility begins this month. The facility will be fully operational on August 1, 2006 and will operate from 5:00 AM until 10:00 PM Monday - Friday, and from 5:00 AM until 2:00 PM on Saturday.

--The new facility will cover 62,000 square feet, which includes 5,690 square feet of office space.

--The new facility will accommodate larger "bread-style" trucks, 23 more load positions than the current facility, as well as A-container handling.

--DHL's total investment in the new facility is approximately $4.3 Million, which includes a 10-year lease commitment, construction of the new facility, and capital improvements (furniture, conveyors, warehouse and dock equipment).

--DHL will also be installing a new phone system with expanded line capabilities to enhance the level of customer service

--The new facility will be able to process approximately 5,000 packages per hour.
