 today announced organizational changes that represent a key step toward building a more efficient and competitive infrastructure for its U.S. operations following the close of the company's acquisition of Airborne. Effective immediately, pick up and delivery services previously handled by 169 of DHL's nationwide service centers will be transitioned to couriers currently servicing the Airborne delivery network.

Impacted DHL employees will continue to be paid and receive benefits through October 31, 2003, and will receive severance packages A severance package is pay and benefits an employee receives when they leave employment at a company. In addition to the employee's remaining regular pay, it may include some of the following:
  • An additional payment based on months of service
 based on years of service.
