DHL Airlifts Water into South Florida to Aid Wilma Relief Efforts; Special Shipment of Bottled Water to Help Meet Immediate Needs of Local Community in Area of Company's U.S. Headquarters.

PLANTATION, Fla. -- As South Florida residents continue to contend with the damage caused by Hurricane Wilma, DHL, the world's leading global express delivery and logistics company, is today sending a dedicated Boeing 727 to the stricken region carrying a payload of approximately 44,000 pounds of bottled water to support relief efforts. The company's U.S. headquarters are located in Plantation, Florida - at the heart of the area impacted by Wilma.

DHL has been in close contact with officials in the office of the Mayor of Plantation to coordinate how the company can best provide assistance to meet the community's most immediate needs. In response to the urgent need for potable water in the most affected areas of South Florida, due to Wilma's impact on the energy and utility infrastructure in the region, DHL will be airlifting bottled water to help supply two emergency relief distribution centers located at Heritage Park and the Public Works Compound in Plantation, FL. Element H2O, located in Chantilly, VA, is supplying the bottled water at cost.

At approximately 6:00 p.m. EST this evening, the DHL Boeing 727 will depart Washington Dulles International Airport for Fort Lauderdale, with 1,278 cases containing more than 30,000 bottles of water on board. The aircraft is scheduled to arrive at Fort Lauderdale International Airport at approximately 8:30 p.m. EST this evening, where the water will be unloaded and stored overnight. Tomorrow morning, at approximately 8:00 a.m. EST, the bottled water will be transported via DHL delivery trucks to two locations in Plantation (Heritage Park: 1100 South Fig Tree Lane and Public Works Compound: 750 NW 91st Avenue), from where it will be distributed to local residents.

DHL is also taking steps to assist its employees in the wake of the hurricane, including setting up live check distribution sites to ensure employees get paid and activating an emergency hotline to provide updates on facilities closures and for employees to report their status. To date the company has not received any reports of injuries involving DHL employees.

DHL will remain actively involved in the relief effort and continue to work in partnership with both national and local aid agencies to facilitate the relief and recovery effort in Florida.
