DGM&S announces new ATM software package; innovative package expedites ATM product development.

MT. LAUREL, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 16, 1996--DGM&S today announced its ATM strategy and unveiled the company's first Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) product portfolio, the ProATM(TM) Software Development Package.

The DGM&S offering is to provide a software package that expedites local area and wide area networking (LAN/WAN) convergence, as well as to integrate public and private subnetworks with ATM technology. DGM&S has begun forming strategic partnerships with chip manufacturers and equipment vendors to develop hardware and software products which integrate communications and information technology.

The DGM&S ATM strategy, according to Rex McWilliams, DGM&S President/CEO, is "to provide advanced networking and high value communications solutions to ATM developers, hardware manufacturers, and equipment suppliers that are complementary with their ATM activities. DGM&S has two comprehensive ATM offerings. An ATM Forum-compliant User Network Interface (UNI 3.1) package that includes a LAN emulation V1.0 module and Classical IP and ARP over ATM as defined in RFC1577. This allows DGM&S to provide device driver templates for most custom ATM hardware implementations used in customer premises and enterprise network solutions.

The second offering incorporates ITU-T Q.2110 SSCOP, Q2140 SSCF and Q.2144 LM implementations for the design of a Network-Network Interface (NNI) designed to perform in conjunction with a Signaling System Number 7 (SS7) Message Transfer Part (MTP) level 3 protocol. ProATM provides a Q.HSL migration path for equipment providers geared towards the public network.
