Technologies Inc, a premiere supplier of wireless and cellular switching products, announced today the availability of its newest product for EMX-2500 cellular switching systems Switching systems (communications)

.

The DTI-3000 E product is an integrated trunk interface card that combines trunk interface and echo cancellation The elimination of an echo in a two-way voice transmission. Echo is created in the telephone company's central office switch when two-wire lines from the customer are converted to four-wire lines for backbone trunks.  functions onto one card. With this new technology, the inherent problems of echo caused by delay can be resolved. The DTI-3000 E trunk interface card gives cellular and wireless companies the option to upgrade their EMX-2500 switching systems, originally provided by Motorola, to the latest technology at a substantially reduced cost. The DTI-3000 E product is nearly half the price of competing products.

"We are pleased we can provide customers with a superior product that cancels problematic echo and at the same time saves them money," states Lyle Coffman, President and COO of DGI. "The DTI-3000 E is truly a customer driven product."

The echo cancellation function meets or exceeds the requirements of ITU-T See ITU.

G.168 specifications and the Acoustic Coupling Control feature eliminates the acoustic background noise of wireless handsets and speakerphones. In this product, hybrid cancellation and acoustic coupling control are provided with one echo canceller See echo cancellation. .

Call quality is greatly improved with the DTI-3000 E trunk interface card. The inherent hybrid echo from the wire-line side is eliminated. In addition, acoustic coupling control eliminates acoustic and background noise generated by the wireless handset. The key features of echo cancellation include fast convergence, robust double talk performance, continuous circuit monitoring of signal levels and echo statistics, dynamic comfort noise, self-test diagnostics and selectable maximum tail path delay up to 128 milliseconds. The DTI-3000 E is available with a variety of configuration options to support various echo cancellation applications including individual channel bypassing to provide a clear channel path for nailed-up data connections.

This universal card is pin compatible to Motorola's DTI-2 and DGI's DTI-2000 Digital Truck Interface cards and provides trunk interface functions equivalent to those cards. The DTI-3000 E also provides special features for Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) A method for transmitting simultaneous signals over a shared portion of the spectrum. The foremost application of CDMA is the digital cellular phone technology from QUALCOMM that operates in the 800 MHz band and 1.9 GHz PCS band. ) applications and other data requirements.

"With the DTI-3000 E card's complete built-in echo cancellation functionality there is no need for cabling. It is a simple 'plug and play' installation," states Coffman. "This allows customers to upgrade their current systems, at a fraction of the cost of existing equipment, while eliminating many problems. As a result, DGI customers will be in a much better position to increase their customer base and succeed in their respective competitive wireless markets."

The DTI-3000 E card offers complete forward and backward compatibility See backward compatible.

with the additional features, will allow the DTI-3000 E interface card to prolong the life of customers' existing equipment. The DTI-3000 E significantly lowers operating costs and expenses by reducing power consumption and heat dissipation. Additionally, valuable floor space required by stand-alone echo cancellers is not needed, thus adding to customers' savings.

The DTI-3000 E card is based on DGI's field-proven DTI-2000 card which will continue to be offered for applications not requiring echo cancellation. The new product provides two standard T1 interfaces, AMI and B7S line codes, as well as Superframe (SF) capability, which is compatible with existing equipment. It additionally provides B8ZS (Binary 8 Zeros Substitution) An encoding method in T1 and E1 transmission that substitutes a special bit pattern for 8 consecutive zeros in order to maintain ones density. See ones density.  line code and the ability to select 56 kb/s or 64 kb/s clear channel modes and Extended Superframe (ESF (1) (Extended SuperFrame) An enhanced T1 format that allows a line to be monitored during normal operation. It uses 24 frames grouped together (instead of the 12-frame D4 superframe) and provides room for CRC bits and other diagnostic commands. ) capability. The DTI-3000 E is a direct replacement and enhancement for Motorola's DTI-2 and DGI's DTI-2000 cards.

DGI Technologies is offering the DTI-3000 E at the special introductory price of $3,920 per card, regardless of volume. This price represents a 35% discount from DGI's list price and is nearly half the cost of stand alone echo cancellers. For example, in the above price echo cancellation is included at $1,000 per T-1 span or $2,000 per DTI Diffusion tensor imaging (DTI)

card. Greater discounts are also available based on annual purchase volume.

See microcontroller and DSP.  Communications Corp and Motorola Inc. Before DGI entered the marketplace in 1991, the original equipment manufacturers were the sole suppliers of after-market products for telephone switches. This forced customers to rely on one source for replacement parts and upgrades. Customers then had to buy expensive new switches to receive product enhancements incorporating the newest technology. With DGI products, users can update their switching systems without replacing them, saving money and significantly extending the life of their equipment.
