DGI Technologies (DGI), a premier supplier of long-distance and cellular switching products, announced today the availability of the new DIF-3060-3HD Triple Density Digital Interface Frame.

The new product from DGI designed specifically for IXC long distance, cellular and wireless service providers, offers the latest digital techniques to cut costs, upgrade and expand on all DEX and EMX switching systems provided by Alcatel USA(a) and Motorola Inc(a).

Service providers globally are striving to increase revenues, cut utility costs and reduce capital expenditures in the midst of market fluctuation. In order to help facilitate a revenue turnaround for their customers, DGI offers a solution in the DIF-3060-3HD that dramatically decreases overall costs.

Over the last six months, DGI created a totally compatible, low cost, triple density frame that offers 4,608 ports in the same space that previously provided only 1,536 ports. The new design of the DIF-3060-3HD integrates echo cancellation and tone detection with the latest VLSI/PLD technology resulting in a 67 percent power savings in one-third the previously required space. Incorporating dramatically increased ports for existing floor space, will cut costs and eliminate the space problem currently plaguing service providers.

The DIF-3060-3HD contains six double-density Digital Interface Shelves with integrated echo cancellation and tone detection, as well as high-density Bus terminator and PCM modules integrated into the rear of the shelf. In addition, the Triple Density Frame utilizes high-density DIS-3020 digital interface shelves with DTI-2000 LP or DTI-3000 T digital trunk interface cards, MP-8 microprocessor cards and PS-2060 power supplies. Due to greater power efficiency, the PS-2060 power supplies offer enough power to allow supplementary features in the future.

In addition to being totally compatible, the DIF-3060-3HD frame simplifies field configuration by providing universal shelf design to reduce maintenance, lower cost and prevent system downtime. The product allows selection of AMI, B7S or B8ZS Line Coding, as well as superframe (SF) and extended superframe (ESF) capabilities. In addition, the DIF-3060-3HD provides 64 kb/s clear channel capability for data applications.
