Phase I of the Portland district cooling system began commercial operation from a 4,000-ton chilled-water plant in March 2002. It currently cools 1.7 million square feet of space, including Tyco Telecom Data Center and the Whole Foods Market. Phase II is scheduled for completion during 2005-2006, with an additional 4,000-6,000 tons of chilled-water capacity to serve The Brewery Block's northernmost properties.
