DG Bank Selects Infinity's Montage Toolkits and Applications; New System Will Enable Compliance with European Capital Adequacy Directive.

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 20, 1995--DG Bank and Infinity Financial Technology, Inc. today announced the Bank's decision to standardize on Infinity's Montage montage (mŏntäzh`, Fr. môNtäzh`), the art and technique of motion-picture editing in which contrasting shots or sequences are used to effect emotional or intellectual responses.  Data Model, Fin++ Class Library and Montage applications.

"We selected the Montage product line because it met our requirements on two critical fronts," said Dr. Thomas Goetz, project manager, Trading Support, DG Bank. "First, we needed tools that would allow us to quickly build a risk engine for the European Commissions Capital Adequacy Directive The Capital Adequacy Directive is a European directive that aims to establish uniform capital requirements for both banking firms and non-bank securities firms.

The original 93/6/EEC ('CAD1') directive was amended by 98/31/EEC ('CAD2'), to incorporate banks' own estimate of
(CAD) reporting and for our own internal reporting. Secondly, we needed a toolkit for financial engineering for interest rate and equity derivatives. Montage provides us with both standard and customizable products. Its object-oriented approach will allow us to respond quickly to changing market requirements."

DG Bank plans to use Infinity's applications in building its customized risk system. The new system will be integrated with the Bank's existing front office systems running on SUN Solaris workstations, and will interface to Teknekron Software Systems' Teknekron Information Bus (TIB See NIST binary. ). The system is being developed and deployed in the Bank's Frankfurt headquarters. Initial users will be head traders, senior managers and middle office professionals responsible for defining risk parameters.

Roger Lang, chief executive officer, Infinity Financial Technology, Inc., said, "With the requirement to meet the European Commission's CAD, banks must put systems in place for reporting and compliance. Because Montage is a robust and extensible technology, it can be adapted to market needs in short timeframes. Our European team has been working closely with our clients to help them meet this challenge."

Willi Ufer, head of bonds and derivatives, DG Bank, said, "We undertook a thorough evaluation of the software packages available on the market, and found Infinity to be a wise investment for both the short and long terms. We wanted the software we used for the CAD to benefit our business in other ways. We needed an integrated product to broadly support risk management across asset classes -- interest rates, currencies and equities -- as well as to provide easy data access for running multiple analyses and reports on both an intra and end-of-day basis. Montage is a well-designed, well-architected product that meets our needs on all of these fronts."

The Montage product family consists of intuitive applications for trading and risk management, and software toolkits, which provide a technology platform for custom development. Software toolkits include the Montage Data Model, a warehouse for treasury data, and the Fin++ Class Library, a set of C++ financial objects. Front-end application packages include a suite of products to manage a trading operation of swaps, caps/floors, FRAs, swaptions, bonds, futures, futures options, foreign exchange and money markets. Montage integrates object-oriented programming object-oriented programming, a modular approach to computer program (software) design.
