[1].  Cargo will begin Boeing 747400 air freighter service from Hong Kong Hong Kong (hŏng kŏng), Mandarin Xianggang, special administrative region of China, formerly a British crown colony (2005 est. pop. 6,899,000), land area 422 sq mi (1,092 sq km), adjacent to Guangdong prov.  to DFW International Airport--another important cargo link with the Pacific Rim. DFW International Airport already has 31 cargo freighter flights every week from Asia, including a recent expansion in service from Singapore Airlines Cargo Singapore Airlines Cargo (SIA Cargo) is the fully owned subsidiary of Singapore Airlines and was formed in 2001. SIA Cargo is the world's third biggest cargo airline in terms of international freight tonne kilometres (FTK). , which operates state-of-the-art Boeing 747-400 "Mega Ark" freighters.

Other carriers flying freighters from Asian destinations to DFW include Korean Air, China Airlines, China Cargo Airlines China Cargo Airlines is a cargo airline based in Shanghai, People's Republic of China. The airport's freight business with Asia rose 42 percent from 2003 to 2004, continuing 12 years of consecutive annual growth. DFW's global connections are important for Latin American shippers, who are enjoying worldwide demand for the region's products. DFW has daily flights to prime South American destinations, including Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo, Lima, Santiago and Caracas, as well as Central America and 17 destinations in Mexico.

Northbound flights to DFW also take advantage of the airport's prime location in the central U.S., which gives us easy access to major markets. "For shippers, reducing trucking time is like putting money in the bank," says Frainey. "By using DFW, you can cut days off your ground shipments into the heart of America."

DFW also takes pride in its effective and efficient air cargo and passenger operations, including the recent inauguration of Skylink, the world's largest airport people mover system. The airport's seven runways also allow for more airport operations and fewer delays.

"We add value for shippers by providing a spacious, well-managed facility that is attractive to airlines and their customers," says Frainey. "At DFW it's easy to go straight off the airplane and onto the truck."

A new 188,000-square-foot logistics building in DFW's International Air Cargo Center is scheduled to open in September, providing new cross-docking and consolidation facilities for freight forwarders. The facility can accommodate up to three 747-400s or two A380s simultaneously. "With 18,000 acres of land, we have numerous other opportunities for cargo facilities," adds Frainey.

Located halfway between the cities of Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas Fort Worth is the fifth-largest city in the state of Texas, 18th-largest city in the United States[1], and voted one of "America’s Most Livable Communities. , DFW International Airport is the world's third busiest, offering nearly 1,800 flights per day and serving 57 million passengers a year. Currently, DFW International Airport provides non-stop service to 119 domestic and 33 international destinations worldwide.
