DFS Group Names Jim Wiggett Executive Vice President Human Resources and Merchandise Planning & Distribution.


SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--September 11, 1997--DFS Group Limited announced today the promotion of Jim Wiggett to the role of Executive Vice President, Human Resources The fancy word for "people." The human resources department within an organization, years ago known as the "personnel department," manages the administrative aspects of the employees.  and Merchandise Planning Merchandise Planning is a strategic and systematic approach used by retailers, particularly in fashion and non-food areas. It is aimed at maximising return on investment, through planning and monitoring sales, margins and inventory in order to increase profitability.  & Distribution.

"This promotion reflects the many contributions made by Jim over the last five years as both head of the Human Resource function and in other capacities as DFS (Distributed File System) An enhancement to Windows NT/2000 and 95/98 that allows files scattered across multiple servers to be treated as a single group. With Dfs, a network administrator can build a hierarchical file system that spans the organization's LANs and  moved through a period of growth and organizational change," said Myron E. Ullman III, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of DFS Group Limited. "In his new role, Jim will continue to be a key executive at DFS, providing leadership, creativity and vision to two of our most important functions -- human resources and merchandise planning and distribution."

Prior to his new appointment, Wiggett was Senior Vice President of Human Resources, a position he assumed in 1992 when he joined DFS. In 1994, as part of a company-wide strategic planning Strategic planning is an organization's process of defining its strategy, or direction, and making decisions on allocating its resources to pursue this strategy, including its capital and people.  initiative, Wiggett headed a task force responsible for the redesign of DFS' merchandising process.
