University Entrepreneurs to Compete for $250,000 in Seed Venture Funding

Entrepreneurs from all eight Ivy League schools, New York University New York University, mainly in New York City; coeducational; chartered 1831, opened 1832 as the Univ. of the City of New York, renamed 1896. It comprises 13 schools and colleges, maintaining 4 main centers (including the Medical Center) in the city, as well as the , and Carnegie Mellon University Carnegie Mellon University, at Pittsburgh, Pa.; est. 1967 through the merger of the Carnegie Institute of Technology (founded 1900, opened 1905) and the Mellon Institute of Industrial Research (founded 1913).  will have the opportunity to compete in the event which will be held on May 21st at Columbia Business School Columbia Business School (part of Columbia University), officially named the Columbia University Graduate School of Business, and also known as CBS, was established in 1916 to provide business training and professional preparation for undergraduate and graduate . The winning team will receive $250,000 of venture financing and free office space for up to six months.

Danny Schultz from DFJ Gotham Ventures added, "New York and the rest of the East Coast are a thriving hotbed hotbed, low, glass-covered frame structure for starting tender plants. It differs from a cold frame only in that the soil is heated—either artificially as by underground electric wiring or steampipes, or naturally with partially fermented stable manure, which  of entrepreneurship. This competition is a great chance to meet some of the region's newest entrepreneurs and help the best of them accelerate their progress toward building a valuable entity."

The Venture Challenge organizers will work with participating universities to identify and invite the most promising teams to compete. The winning team will receive a minimum of $250,000 in seed stage funding to be disbursed to the team upon the company's incorporation.
