DEWALT Celebrates Phoenix's ``Champions of the Trade'' by Paying Tribute to Outstanding Hispanic Construction Workers With an Award Ceremony and COPA Champions of Trade Soccer Tournament.DEWALT:
WHO: DEWALT Spokesperson Adolfo Rios -- former professional Mexican
soccer star goalie -- will kick off the DEWALT Champions of
the Trade family event featuring a soccer tournament -- COPA
Champions of the Trade -- with approximately 40 teams playing
on six fields for eight hours, power tool demonstrations,
games and prizes for the entire family. Rios will sign
autographs the day of the event from 3:45 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.
WHAT: DEWALT Champions of the Trade event will include day-long
soccer tournament COPA Champions of the Trade and an award
ceremony honoring four DEWALT Champions of the Trade and one
scholarship recipient. The scholarship will be awarded, in
conjunction with the Hispanic College Fund, to a high
school/college student or non-student interested in attending
trade school and mastering the craft of carpentry. EMG (Ethnic

DEWALT Champions of the Trade:
In 1989, Phoenix native and Vice President of United
Southwest, Luis Diaz Jr. began working in framing and 10 years
ago was hired by United Southwest as VP of Construction.
Depending on the project, he now oversees a team of 300-400.
Arnolfo (Arnie) Galindo, Mexican native and co-owner of
Galindo Construction. He became a co-owner four years ago with
the help from his brother, sister-in-law and friends Jim and
Jody Whitelaw. The business that started with six employees
today boasts a workforce of 110.
Martinez Framing owner Pablo Martinez, originally from Mexico
City, arrived in Phoenix 18 years ago. Three years ago he
became the proprietor of Martinez Framing with approximately
75 employees.
Pulte Buildings System Production Manager Carlos Salcedo,
originally from East Los Angeles, started as superintendent of
Pulte Buildings System 25 years ago and two years ago became a
production manager spearheading a labor force of approximately
300 construction workers.

tools ($500 in value); and a scholarship recipient will
