Since January 2000, Mississippi Virtual Community College has provided the infrastructure for offering online classes to all community colleges in the state. Developing online science classes is particularly challenging due to the necessity of laboratory activities in almost all the introductory sciences. The focus of this project is to develop an online trigonometry-based physics course along with the required laboratory component. Students use the materials provided in a lab packet and the instructions accessible on the Internet to perform the experiments. The instructions contain pictures, and on occasion movies, to guide students through the process. A poster is prepared to present the structure of this online class and some of the laboratory activities. This project is funded by the NASA NASA: see National Aeronautics and Space Administration.
