The Ahmanson Ranch project calls for 3,050 homes, a hotel, two golf courses and commercial projects on 2,800 acres. Although it is in Ventura County, all access roads lead to Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  County.

``We are preparing to resubmit the tract map in early January,'' said Adrian Rodriguez of Washington Mutual “WaMu” redirects here. For the Washington, DC radio station, see WAMU.

Ventura County officials handed back the map application in May, saying it was incomplete.

Another hurdle the developer will face is securing an oak tree removal permit from Los Angeles County on Feb. 2.

Wildlife species on the site prompted county planners in October to hold off on granting the permit that would allow for the removal of nine oak trees to make way for a southern entrance to the proposed development.

Over the summer, a wildlife survey discovered the existence of the threatened red-legged frog Red-legged Frog is a common name for two alike kinds of frog of the west coast of North America, which are also known, in distinction from each other, as the Northern Red-legged Frog and the California Red-legged Frog.  and the thought-to-be-extinct San Fernando Valley San Fernando Valley

Calabasas, which has been fighting the development, is seeking emergency federal and state protection of the flower 20,000 of which were found on the site of the first phase of 650 homes and a clubhouse. The city's special counsel sent off the application about two weeks ago.

Calabasas City Councilwoman Janice Lee said opponents have additional ammunition in the form of a Dec. 2 letter signed by Rep. Brad Sherman Bradley J. ``What makes it so stellar is the fact that I can't think of any other project on record in recent memory that has every level of elected official come in unison on the opposition of a development,'' she said. ``It's pretty unique.

``Once we see the level of political alliances here opposing this project, now I am confident these agencies will follow the letter of the law to protect the resources. Because now Ahmanson is not only going to be under the scrutiny of the public eye along with the agencies overseeing the project, but every level of government.

``I can hope from that and draw from that this project has a long way to go if ever it has hopes of breaking ground.''

Lee also said additional surveys need to be conducted to see if there are any other endangered species endangered species, any plant or animal species whose ability to survive and reproduce has been jeopardized by human activities. In 1999 the U.S. government, in accordance with the U.S.  on site.
