DEVELOPER TO HOST DOS VIENTOS TOUR.

Janice Ruef moved to Newbury Park three years ago because of the area's abundant open space, and opposes any sort of development that would encroach encroach v. to build a structure which is in whole or in part across the property line of another's real property. Still, when she received an invitation to take a bus tour of the 2,350-home Dos Vientos project being built just a few miles from her home, she readily accepted.

``I just think I'll have a greater knowledge about it,'' Ruef said. ``I don't think I'll feel better about it, but I'll have a better understanding of the scope of the project.''

Ruef and her husband are among the 28 residents who signed up for tonight's bus tour, organized by Courtly court·ly

Homes Inc., one of two developers of the project.

``What we're trying to do is be a good neighbor,'' said Arlen Miller, a principal with Courtly Homes. ``It's a large project. Sometimes they've read things, and sometimes incorrect things. We want to provide them with accurate information.''

Winding over roads cut through the development, the two-hour tour will take passengers past finished grading; sites for water tanks, parks and open space; locations for schools; and other elements, Miller said.

``One hour there is worth a three-hour speech I could give with graphs,'' he said. ``We're not trying to sell homes; we're trying to provide information to the neighborhood.''

It's Courtly Homes' second tour, but the first targeting people living close to the development, Miller said. ``This is for their concerns, needs and wants,'' he said.

Earlier this year, Courtly Homes and the advocacy group Dos Vientos Amigos AMIGOS Advanced Mobile Integration in General Operating Systems  ran a public tour that drew about 70 people, he said. Another is planned for next month.

Also going on the tour is Lance Marsh, owner of Gold Coast Management, which manages the homeowners associations for Casas de la Senda and the Oakridge Estates next to Dos Vientos.

Marsh said many of his clients have asked him questions about the project, and a tour should give him the insights into the project he needs.
