DETROIT NEWSPAPERS APPOINTS VP HUMAN RESOURCES

DETROIT, July 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Randy Miller, 41, has been appointed vice president/Human Resources for Detroit Newspapers. The announcement was made today by Frank J. Vega, president and CEO.
Miller replaces Lizz Connor who has accepted a position as vice president/Human Resources with Option Care, Inc., a Chicago-based health-care organization. Connor joined Detroit Newspapers in 1992. In announcing her departure, Vega said, "During her time here, Lizz has made great strides in creating a more responsible and responsive Human Resources department. We regret to see her leave and certainly wish her well."
Miller was previously vice president/Planning and Development for Detroit Newspapers. He joined the agency in 1991. Prior to that, he had been deputy managing editor for the Detroit Free Press.
"We're very fortunate to have Randy in a position to assume responsibilities for Human Resources in addition to his current duties. His excellent performance in establishing training and diversity programs and community development activities such as the DNA Communities Fund and Media Partnership for Jobs makes this a natural progression," Vega went on to say. "Pulling all these components together under one umbrella just makes sense for our organization.
Miller is married with two children and lives in Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich.
